Our Greatest Fears Keep Us From Achieving Success

Our minds tend to see obstacles first and spits out every excuse possible to not start on something in our life that would benefit us, make us more wealthy, have a relationship, or become a better person. Those obstacles & excuses lie between where we are now and where we want to be or who we want to become. Even before we can initiate any action on our goal, we literally paralyze ourselves.

Once your mind begins to fill with all the obstacles & excuses that could potentially keep you from achieving your goal, suddenly your desire to even try is crushed.

We can choose to transform those obstacles & excuses into actions & decisions.

I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TIME.

Individuals who achieve extraordinary levels of success have days just as hectic as ours. They’ve got commitments to work, friends, and family. We’re all confined to an equal amount of time—the same 24 hours, 7 days a week. Yet some people find the time to continually make their goal achievement a part of their daily routine.

You need to create time! Plan your time ahead! Divide up your to do list into what you must do and what you want to do.

I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

Confusion breeds procrastination. Find a successful formula and follow it. Model those that have reached your success. Success leaves clues.

I HATE SETTING GOALS.

Goals come from having a clear vision of what you want. Create your goal statement so compelling it literally pulls you, like a magnet, in the direction of its achievement.

S.M.A.R.T. technique:

Specific—Be specific about what you want to achieve, creating your goal in the present tense.

Measurable—Make your goal measurable somehow.

Action—Create an action list of things you must do to achieve success.

Realistic—Your goal must be realistic but at the same time it challenges you and breeds a desire for action.

Time-Date stamp your goal! It gives you clarity and something to look forward to.

THERE’S TOO MUCH RISK.

Life is risk. Go for it anyway!! Take the chance. If it doesn’t turn out exactly as you wanted it to, consider it a learning experience.

I CAN’T STAY COMMITTED.

There’s a huge difference between intentions and action. And the difference is commitment. Only 21 days to form a habit!!!

Ask yourself what will this cost me if I don’t change right now? How will my life be different when I reach my goal? What will I gain by reaching my goal?

LACK THE CONFIDENCE TO SUCCEED.

Sometimes the accomplishment of our goals might seem so overwhelming, the immediate temptation is to give up before we even start—which diminishes our self-confidence even further. It’s true. We can’t gain confidence until we take action. Yet, we don’t want to act until our confidence levels are raised sufficiently. You just need to start taking action and the confidence will happen.

I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH MOTIVATION.

Post everywhere around you your vision of your future success. Use this as motivation. Make sure you can see your vision constantly and this will help to motivate you to keep taking action.
